MEDIUM - FULL FLAVOUR
Montecristo is one of the best known and probably the most popular brand of Havanas throughout the world. It forms the benchmark for many Havana smokers against which other brands are judged. The Montecisto No. 4 is the best selling cigar in the world.
The name draws influence from Alexandre Dumas’ famous novel ‘The Count of Montecristo’, which was a firm favourite when read to the Torcedores (cigar rollers) at the factory where it was founded in 1935.
Originally, Montecristo ranged in sizes from 1 to 5. Today it consists of a wide variety of vitolas, including the Edmundo which was introduced in 2004 with its heavy ring gauge of 52, and a shorter version, the Petit Edmundo, followed two years later. 2013 saw the release of the Double Edmundo. The name Edmundo comes from the character in the novel, Edmundo Dantes.
In 2009 the Montecristo Open series launched consisting of four sizes ( Junior, Eagle, Master and Regatta) blended for a lighter flavour than other sizes in Montecristo’s range.
Montecristo’s perfectly balanced blends are created exclusively with selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone, home of the finest tobaccos in the world. Both its original medium to full taste and the lighter flavour found in the Open Series offer a distinguished aroma and appeal equally to new and experienced smokers.
All sizes are ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano’ - long filler, totally hand made.
